Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Image
15th January each year is set aside to remember fallen and standing heroes. To be honest, the word "hero" is not enough to qualify these "angels" who sign their lives for our safety. To become a soldier, they had to sign that the government would not be held responsible if they lose their lives in the cause of rendering selfless service to the nation. The major bone of contention is that it takes a lot of guts and determination to dedicate one's life to serving a country that seemingly doesn't care about its citizens; a country that is not even ready to lift a finger to save a captive. So for these soldiers, they are on their own, yet they have a "die-hard spirit". Another set of people worth celebrating are their spouses because the nature of the job implies a lot of absence on the part of the soldier. Thus, most times, their spouses feel like single parents who play the roles of father and mother. In conclusion, no amount is too much to appreciat...

School is a Scam!

Image
Do you believe that schooling kills your creativity? Many talents have been crucified because they visited the four walls of an educational institution. Remember how as children, we used to have many dreams and visions. Ask me, what happened to them? School! Once one goes to school, teachers and lecturers will brainwash you on how those dreams are unrealistic. They tell you tragic tales of how many who had bigger dreams could not achieve them. They tell you tales of woe and give you formulas on impossibilities. Guess what? The textbooks they recommend also celebrate the tragedy of many who started like you. Gradually, you begin to navigate towards the stereotype their syllabuses and curricula structure you to be. Witnesses to this fact, are many successful men and women who dropped out of school:  Tiger Woods:  Bill Gates Ramsey Nouah Ralph Lauren Don Jazzy According to these people, they knew who they wanted to be. and they dropped out of school for that. Don't let school sc...

Do it for your children

My father once told me the tale of how as an aeronautical engineer someone came to him and offered to make him a millionaire if he could hide cocaine in the aircraft for them to transport it elsewhere. Despite the fact that as an engineer, he knew a lot of secret parts of the aircraft that no one will ever locate, he declined the offer. Assuming he was as greedy as a lot of boys in this generation, he would have done it, but he thought of the implications….   What would become of his children if he was caught, arrested, and prosecuted? What would happen to the family name? Is it the right thing to do? Despite not being born again at the time, he rejected the offer because he didn’t want that kind of money. How many people can do that today?   It is an open secret that many have become rich as a result of claiming entitlements of others, sitting on the sweat of many to “claim” to be among the high and mighty in society. I wonder if it ever occurs to them that it’s the s...

Olosho!

Image
"Use what you have to get what you want" is what they claim. However, you have many things apart from those private areas. Do you want me to list them? You have a brain, mouth, hands, legs, etc The brain is the most important of all. With just that, you can achieve a lot more than you can with other body parts. I have come across many tales of woe online from the #olosho ones to the #dubaiportapotty ones, the tales are endless.  Many ladies and even men with amazing talents have gone through a lot of dehumanizing obscenities just to make some money. After making the money, they spend it on flashy time-bound merchandise that will diminish in a matter of time. Do you care to know what some of these things are: iPhone, human hair, clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, and so on.  In a lot of cases, the fault is theirs and not their parents as some of them hide under the guise of being raised without a silver spoon. Yet, I've seen those raised with wooden spoons who have succeeded i...

Take the Bull by the Horns

It's been a while since my last post. That doesn't mean I don't look forward to coming on here to post. A lot has happened since my last post, but that's water under the bridge now. I have a lot to gist you about, but we will take it one topic at a time. Today's post is about facing your challenges with all the stamina you have. As a kid, I heard the tale of how a scorpion stung a church member and she almost died,. That instilled fear of scorpions in me. I had also heard tales of how people at various places were stung by snakes. At a point in my life, when I was faced with living with snakes and scorpions, I had to face my worst nightmare which was killing them. Initially, I watched people kill them. Afterward, I mastered the art of killing them, as well as many other creepy crawlies. Despite being born into the hairdressing business, I always had the 'can't do" belief that there was no way I could make a nice hairstyle on anyone. Today, I overcame t...

Chinelo on the Train

For how long will the country continue to tell tales of woe? Too many tales of how the leaders of tomorrow are cut down like fruitless trees. What then is the plight of the parents who birthed them? Many avoidable tragedies have consistently occurred. The appalling savagery can be reduced if we have leaders who genuinely care for their citizens. Sadly, the era of their extravagant lies is upon us as we look toward the election. They will soon come up with bountiful lies on how they will tar the road with gold, make health care such that three persons get treated for five Naira.  We journey to the market with fear of not being able to buy half of what is on our market lists as the prices of items skyrocket with each passing day. Even items that have nothing to do with the dollars rate also blame their increment on dollars. It has become a Herculean task to sail your dreams and aspirations in this Buharian era.  Yet, one thing Nigerians are known for is the die-hard spiri...

Starting Afresh

Image
It's been almost 10 years of performing the daunting task of having a blog. I started up in 2012 while looking up different avenues of making money online. I came across so many opportunities, but the one which caught my attention was starting up a blog. Eventually, I could not continue with the task as I was faced with many life challenges. This thing called "adulthood" comes with its challenges, as I encountered many obstacles to actualizing my plans. After many fruitless attempts at consistent blogging, I unknowingly yielded to distraction. However, I am glad for the "Covid-19" year, as the lock-down period taught us many lessons on working remotely. It gave me the courage to quit everything that took me far from happiness and be who I want to be. It gave me an opportunity to rediscover purpose and retrace my steps. I have been able to come up with many amazing ideas of getting fulfilled. Come along with me on this journey as I unravel them gradually. It wil...
